Credential Renewal
Every DIB credential is valid for 3 years from its date of issue — the expiry date appears on the certificate, the wallet card, and the public registry record. An expired credential shows EXPIRED in the registry and is no longer a valid attestation.
Renewal requirements
Renewal is completed through the candidate portal and requires, per Clauses 13.5.2 and 13.5.4 of RDS-1:2026:
- A credential at the level being renewed that is active, or expired by no more than 90 days;
- Completion of the current-edition renewal module — what changed in the standard, regulation, and practice since issue;
- A passing score on the renewal examination at the published renewal rate.
A renewed credential keeps its National Registry Number; the registry record and a reissued certificate carry the new validity dates.
Renewal window
The renewal window opens 90 days before expiry. Holders receive notice by email at the address of record. Renewal completed inside the window takes effect from the expiry date — renewing early never costs validity time.
Lapsed credentials
Per Clause 13.5.4, renewal remains available until 90 days after expiry; beyond that, requalification requires the full examination for that level at the standard fee. The registry number is retained and its record reflects the requalification.
